This crop from Ngozi, the northernmost province in Burundi, is a superbly delicious example of what these hard-working farmers can produce. Growing primarily Bourbon on smallholder farms with 250 trees or less, the potential for this often overlooked coffee is high. Roasted lighter than previous crops from this origin, the results are quite intriguing: A mouth-watering juiciness comparable to the best Kenyan coffee with layers of sweet and tangy blackberry and tamarind fruit notes.
